Listen 5 Sketch - In

Working out the canvas sketch-in for Listen 5. One of the things I am happiest about (and scared of) with the Listen series is the opportunity to paint people of different backgrounds, ethnicities and ages that I may not get to locally or through commissions. It's a wonderful chance to grow as an artist and a bit intimidating. The support has been tremendous since I started the series again - thanks so much. Country Western - Cow Girl Traditional Pinup Girl Commission

Here is a recently finished #pinup commission. I took a different approach with this one and tried the Drew Struzan method - heavy underdrawing, base airbrushing, heavy pencil crayon rendering and retouching with acrylic and the air brush. For the first time trying it I'm really happy with the results - it's a nice balance between my drawing and painting both in time and budget.
I get a lot of commission work for pinups which I always find interesting (I don't do much of it in my spare time or pursue it heavily) but it's always fun and challenging finding the right balance in it. The original is available and the client is allowing my to do a limited number of prints, drop me a line if interested.

Finally finished and couldn't be happier. It was an interesting journey on this painting. It was revisiting the first Listen painting and seeing how far I've come the last 4 years and what still needs work. I was focused on the skin quality and capturing the translucent nature of it.
The first run of prints goes in on Tuesday (Sept. 8th).
